Heart
Our Lions offense appeared to be in high gear on the opening drive moving to the Pioneer's 30 yard line. Dan Desiderio put the Lions on the board first with a 40 yard field goal. Chris Reiter dropped Conesotga's punter, and Chris Wagner scored on an 8 yard run on the next play.
Trailing 19-10 at the half the Lions found what they demonstrated all season - "Heart". On consecutive weeks the Lions have forced themselves to play from behind. Terrance Jackson powered the Lions "O" into full gear with a 51 yard touchdown run. Aaron Barnes rumbled for a 2 yard score giving the Lions the lead 24-19 going into the fourth quarter.
As if three lead changes were not exciting enough, Conestoga took the lead early in the final period. Terrance Jackson's 3 yard touchdown may have been best of the year - after being hit at the 5 yard line, Terrance drove his legs, spun out of a defenders grasp and drug two others into the end zone. Conestoga again responded with a touchdown. The final lead change occurred with :17 seconds on the clock as Andy Spahr barreled to his left for the final 1 yard giving the Lions a 37-33 lead. Ryan Phillips second interception came on the final tick of the clock, sealing the Lions fourth win of the season.
Two weeks in a row the Lions offensive line manufactured game ending drives to complete a comeback.
Brian Magness and Phillips caught huge first down passes in the second half keeping drives alive. Defensively, Mike McFadden was all over the field, Matt Spahr made several key plays in the second half.
